PyHo 2026 · Ho, Ghana
Everything you need to plan your trip — the city, the conference venue, travel routes, and where to stay.
Host City
Capital of the Volta Region and a city that runs on community spirit — Ho is the perfect home for a Pythonista gathering.
Ho sits at roughly 900 m above sea level in the southeastern highlands of Ghana, surrounded by forested hills and the sweeping Volta basin that gives the region its name.
It is a city of teachers, engineers, traders, and storytellers — known for its calm pace, its university energy (University of Health and Allied Sciences is based here), and its easy distance from major Ghanaian cities without any of the Accra sprawl.
The Ewe people are the dominant cultural group; visitors find a city proud of its weaving traditions, its oral history, and its warm hospitality. Kente cloth woven in Volta is among the most prized in Ghana.

Travel Guide
Ho is well-connected by road from Accra and other major Ghanaian cities. Here's how to plan your journey.
VIP Jeoun, STC, and several private coach operators run direct Accra → Ho services daily. Coaches depart from Accra's Tudu / Asafo terminals and Kaneshie.
Take the N1 east past Tema, then the N2 northeast through Sogakope or Adidome. The Ho-Accra road is paved and in good condition. Google Maps routes are reliable.
Fly into Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra. From the airport, take a taxi or rideshare to Tudu/Kaneshie terminal, then board an Ho-bound bus. Alternatively, hire a private driver for the full journey.
Direct tro-tros and shared taxis run Kumasi → Ho via Kpando. Journey passes through the scenic Volta highlands — a beautiful route worth the extra time.
Travel south on the N1 to Accra or take regional buses through Hohoe and Kpando to reach Ho. Internal flights to Accra are also an option from Tamale.
Attendees from Togo can cross at the Aflao border (close to the Volta Region) and bus north to Ho. From Benin or Nigeria, fly into Kotoka then road-connect as above.
