📶

Wi-Fi

Conference Wi-Fi will be available throughout the venue. Network name and password will be displayed at check-in and shared in the attendee WhatsApp group. For live demos, we recommend having a mobile data backup — conference Wi-Fi under load can be unpredictable.

🍽️

Food & refreshments

Light breakfast snacks, morning tea/coffee, a catered lunch, and afternoon refreshments are included for all attendees. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, halal, or allergies — can be noted during registration. Water stations are available throughout the venue.

🔌

Power & charging

Power outlets will be available in session rooms and the networking area. Bring your own adapter if needed — Ghana uses Type D and Type G outlets (230V). A small number of USB charging stations will also be provided at the venue.

Accessibility

The venue has accessible entrances, restrooms, and seating. If you have a specific accessibility requirement, email ho@pythonghana.org at least two weeks before the event so we can make arrangements. We want everyone to participate fully.

📱

Stay connected

Join the PyHo 2026 attendee WhatsApp group (link sent with your registration confirmation) for real-time updates, schedule changes, and networking. Follow @PythonHo on X for live coverage on the day.

📸

Photography & recording

The conference will be photographed and talks recorded for the PyHo YouTube channel. If you prefer not to be photographed, let us know at check-in — we'll mark your badge accordingly and our photographers will respect that. Speakers consent to recording at time of acceptance.

🛡️

Code of Conduct

PyHo is a welcoming, inclusive event. All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to follow our Code of Conduct. Violations can be reported to any organiser on the day, or emailed to ho@pythonghana.org.

🧳

What to bring

Registration confirmation (digital is fine), a laptop if you plan to follow along with code demos, a notepad, your charger, and a reusable water bottle. The venue is air-conditioned — a light layer is useful if you run cold. Leave the big bag at the hotel if you can.

October 22–23 — Pre-conference events. Django Girls Ho Workshop (Oct 22–23) and Builders Lab Sprint (Oct 23) run the days before the main conference. Check the Schedule page for full details and separate registration where applicable.
Financial Assistance

Travel grants

PyHo has a travel grant programme to help cover the costs of attending for people who couldn't otherwise make it to Ho.

We know that travel costs, accommodation, and time off work are real barriers for many community members — particularly students and developers from outside Accra. The grant programme exists to close that gap.

Grants are funded directly by Builder and Patron pass purchases, as well as dedicated sponsor contributions. The total pool available varies each year depending on what's raised. We allocate grants based on demonstrated need and potential community impact.

Applications are reviewed by the organising committee. Decisions are made fairly and confidentially — receiving a grant is not published without your consent.

✓  Who can apply

  • Students & recent graduates
  • Developers from outside Accra / Ho area
  • Attendees from neighbouring countries
  • First-time PyHo attendees with financial need
  • Community members from underrepresented groups
  • Accepted speakers who need support

✗  Who should not apply

  • Attendees whose employer will cover costs
  • Those who can comfortably self-fund the trip
  • Attendees seeking reimbursement after the event without prior grant approval

What grants can cover

  • Transport to and from Ho (bus or shared taxi fare)
  • Accommodation for the conference nights (Oct 23–24)
  • Per diem for meals not covered by the conference
  • Visa or border crossing costs (for international attendees)
  • Childcare costs that make travel possible
  • Other documented, reasonable travel-related expenses

What we cannot cover

  • International flights (we do not have capacity for this in 2026)
  • Equipment or devices
  • Expenses already reimbursed elsewhere

Apply for a travel grant

Applications open when the grant pool is confirmed. Sign up for the newsletter or watch @PythonHo for the announcement. Grants are awarded on a first-come, considered-need basis.

Travel Grants

Grants FAQ

Common questions about the travel grant programme.

There's no fixed maximum. Applications are reviewed based on documented need and the total pool available. In your application, list the specific costs you need help with — transport, accommodation, meals — and we'll determine what we can cover. If the pool is limited, we prioritise applicants with the greatest demonstrated need and those travelling the furthest.

We aim to notify applicants within three weeks of the application closing date. If your application is approved, you'll receive a confirmation email with details on how the grant will be disbursed. Apply as early as possible — we cannot guarantee late applications will be considered if the pool is exhausted.

This depends on the nature of your costs. For accommodation, we may pre-book on your behalf with a hotel partner. For transport and other costs, we issue reimbursements after the conference on submission of receipts. We understand this places a short-term burden on applicants — if upfront payment is a barrier, explain this in your application and we'll try to make alternative arrangements.

Accepted speakers receive complimentary conference access automatically. If you need help with travel or accommodation costs on top of that, contact us at ho@pythonghana.org after your talk is accepted and before submitting a full grant application — we handle speaker travel support separately and informally where possible.

Yes. Applications are reviewed only by the organising committee and are not shared publicly. If your grant is approved, we will not name you as a recipient in any public communication without your explicit consent. We know financial assistance is a personal matter and we treat all applications with discretion.

Yes — international attendees are welcome to apply. We can help with ground transport and accommodation costs once you're in Ghana. Note that we cannot cover international flights in 2026, and as well visa costs — explain your situation in the application.

Please let us know as early as possible if your plans change — email ho@pythonghana.org. If costs have already been paid on your behalf, we'll need to discuss what can be recovered. We understand that life happens, and we don't expect perfection — but prompt communication means we can redirect resources to someone else who needs them.

Three ways to contribute:

  • Buy a Builder or Patron pass — a portion of every paid ticket goes directly into the grants pool.
  • Become a Patron — the GHS 500+ Patron Pass is specifically designed so your contribution sponsors another builder's attendance.
  • Sponsor PyHo — companies and organisations can partner with us with a dedicated grants contribution as part of their sponsorship package.
